Shira Oz-Sinai 

Though Shira was born in a placid town on the Northeastern Coast of the United States, she spent her formative years in a turbulent country that has been aching for lasting peace since its creation. Experiencing constant instability and unrest in Israel quickly gave rise to Shira’s commitment to educating about awareness as a key to healing and moving forward in life.

Shira considers teaching an art and has been cultivating her craft ever since she picked up the chalk in her little girl’s bedroom to teach her barbies the alphabet. Shira perpetually adds to her teaching strategies from her own studies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a master’s in Jewish Literature from the University of Maryland, where she also taught. 



Over ten years of teaching language, culture, and literature in addition to working with people of all ages and walks of life have reaffirmed Shira’s initial observation about the healing quality of an awakened heart. Once introduced to iRest® Yoga Nidra, there was no stopping her; Shira began teaching Yoga Nidra with the invaluable guidance of her local teachers. She later received more formal training from the founder of iRest®, Dr. Richard Miller, at the Integrative Restoration Institute® in California.   

Shira currently delivers group and individual session, as well as workshops. She continues her work with at-risk youth, educators, and therapists. In addition, Shira offers Yoga Nidra at the Community Wellness Clinic at Crossings in Silver Spring, MD. She has led iRest® Yoga Nidra workshops both locally and internationally, as she proceeds to realize her wish of sharing the practice with anyone willing to try it!

Her students, young and old, relish in her soothing voice, exuding patience, striking confidence, and remarkable determination to meet them where they are.

Shira lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.
